WILLIAM MACKINNON HOME AND AWAY
29 September to 29 October 2022
William Mackinnon is an internationally regarded Australian artist, living and working between Ibiza, Spain, the UK, and Australia. He has been the recipient of numerous awards; most significantly the Archibald Art Prize, Wynne Art Prize, Basil Sellers Art Prize, and Arthur Guy Memorial Prize. His works are held in numerous significant public and private collections, both nationally and internationally including Artbank, Ian Potter Museum, and Parliament House Art Collection.
Mackinnon’s highly anticipated exhibition Home and Away continues the artist’s affinity with the quintessential Australian landscape in large-scale cinematic paintings and limited prints which depict some of his most iconic imagery. He explores the possibilities of painting through what is often a fantastical representation of the environment around him: whether it be a roadscape, landscape, or dreamscape.
